Buset-Hero lite
In Spanish the words ending in -ero and -era is refered to a person or object that makes a job or executes a specific action (ex. shoe maker: zapatero, bread maker: panadero, etc)
Buset-hero is a Spanish pun on the word Buseta (small size bus), and the job position, in this case referring to a person involved in driving a bus, but isn’t in the proper way to call a bus driver.
Also, it’s also a pun on making the player the “Bus Hero” like the Guitar Hero’s game.
In Spanish, the letter H does not make a sound, so is read similar to busetero.
This idea came from a project I planned for a game design class in college, but in my team we called it with a different name. But then didn’t decided a design it at that time, except for the team logo.
The idea of the project is based on the local context of passenger transportation in the city of cali in colombia in the 2000s, where the rules for the transit of passenger buses were very lax and drivers used to overcrowd the bus, did not always respect the preestablished routes, and not having a defined departure time was very common to see them compete with their colleagues and drivers of other routes that passed through the same route.
This is kind of a racing game, much like the bus version of crazy taxi.
Main Menu
The main menu is based on the table route that the bus carry on the front to show to the people the route it were going to cover.
In this case is used as main menu and without a number like the real ones.
Select City
The setting is in a different cities of Colombia, specially in the big ones, the player starts from the less populated ones and as he progresses the more populated ones will be unlocked, making Cali, Medellin and finally the capital Bogota, the last and hardest levels.
Select Course
The user can select a type of bus depending on the company, the player starts with small size bus (Colectivo) fleet, and as the player progresses through the game. Companies with bigger sizes fleets will be unlocked. Also as the user select the company, he can select also the route by the number, beating the easiest routes, the hardest ones will be unlocked.
Select Ride
In this screen the user can select the bus type per company fleet. Check diferent stats per vehicle.
Game play Screen
Through the game the user the left hand thumb to move the steering wheel, pause the game and honk the claxon, with the right hand thumb the user accelerate and stop the bus, receive the fare payment when the people reach the bus in the screen.
In the left side above the steering wheel, the user can view the speed, in the top left is the indicator that shows the current amount of fare collected and the goal.
In the top middle is the mirror. In the top right is the number of passengers and their comfort level and the crowd level of the bus and how many passengers are standing and seated.
In the middle right is the map to indicate the route and the current location of the bus. and in the bottom is the accelerator and brake pedals.
GAme Screen Signs
Making Turns/ Stop to pick or left people / Finish
The signs show the user when he have to make a turn, stop to pick up or disembark passengers, and when the game starts and finish.
Game Over
Another sign that will appear is the game over, it can happen in three types of situation: When the bus/player crashes another car or provoke an accident. The passengers status is unbearable: like the player is speeding all the time or is too slow, or the bus is traveling overcrowded for a large amount of time. The bus is caught broken the traffic rules, the bus is overcrowded and is sighted by a traffic officer.
Game Pause
When the user touch the top left red button the game can be paused.
In game menu
Almost in all screens is present the purple colored button, when the user touches. the options of the main menu is displayed in the top of the screen.
Profile Screen
In the profile screen the user can change his user name, share the records with friend, an change his profile picture.
Options Screen
In the options screen the user can set the volume of the game music and special effects, also ito activate the vibration of the device at some events in the game.
